New journal, new user icons
Hmmm....I'm thinking it might be time to do an overhaul of my user icons. They're the exact same ones I used on my old LiveJournal and while I'm all about preserving memories of the past, this is a new journal and its appearance should reflect that.
Also, it's Galentie's Day but I don't have any gals to celebrate with except my sister. Maybe I should invite her go out to eat on Saturday...
Also, *also*, I searched "Dreamwidth" on Mastodon and found a good number of people who posted links to their journal entries. Very heartening ^_^

If you don't mind me asking, what do you remember the most fondly about LJ?

1) Getting up early enough that I'd have about an hour to kill before I had to go to work (or class), so I would use that time to go on LiveJournal and write an entry. It was a such a satisfying and relaxing way to begin my day.
2) Getting a glimpse into my friends' lives and innermost thought and sharing my own events and thoughts with them. The design of most social media nowadays does not lend itself to such personal sharing. I also miss getting thoughtful comments on my entries, which would often result in fun and interesting conversations.
How about you?

I wrote a small amount of fiction that got well-received, and it was gratifying to come up with a writing game that could be manipulated and shared. I almost got that off the ground through Facebook a few times, but now it's a dull roar of politics and hot takes. UGH.

There's a large overlap between Mastodon and DW usership in my circle, too! I've been having people subscribing to my DW through Mastodon. Not so much the other way around, maybe because I don't promote my Mastodon toots on DW like I do my DW posts on Masto. Others seem to be using their accounts similarly.
