New journal, new user icons

Hmmm....I'm thinking it might be time to do an overhaul of my user icons. They're the exact same ones I used on my old LiveJournal and while I'm all about preserving memories of the past, this is a new journal and its appearance should reflect that.

Also, it's Galentie's Day but I don't have any gals to celebrate with except my sister. Maybe I should invite her go out to eat on Saturday...

Also, *also*, I searched "Dreamwidth" on Mastodon and found a good number of people who posted links to their journal entries. Very heartening ^_^

Cheers! Love your Questionable-Content icon. I'm still trying to get back in the habit of posting long, thought out missives and boy am I rusty.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you remember the most fondly about LJ?

I suppose the idea of having a long, involved conversation that wasn't moderated by what someone thinks might drive more traffic or interest or whatever. That's my biggest beef with FB and Twitter and so forth, is breaking up my timeline in a way to extract ad revenue instead of letting me, yaknow, just read the posts I want to read from the people I enjoy talking with.

I wrote a small amount of fiction that got well-received, and it was gratifying to come up with a writing game that could be manipulated and shared. I almost got that off the ground through Facebook a few times, but now it's a dull roar of politics and hot takes. UGH.

I've been gradually switching out my icons, too--some of them were from fandoms I haven't been in for a long time, and others don't feel right anymore.

There's a large overlap between Mastodon and DW usership in my circle, too! I've been having people subscribing to my DW through Mastodon. Not so much the other way around, maybe because I don't promote my Mastodon toots on DW like I do my DW posts on Masto. Others seem to be using their accounts similarly.
