It is official: I'm going to Chicago!
Sep. 20th, 2005 03:40 pmAfter some grumbling and procrastinating (and a deep desire to not want to part with my money), I finally got my ticket to go to Chicago for my cousin's wedding on Oct.8th! At first I was hesitant, but now that I actually have the ticket bought, I'm pretty excited about going. Also, it seems that a lot of my dad's side of the family will be there, so it will be nice to see them. When my cousin announced that he was getting married, my grandmother, more than anyone, really wanted to go to the wedding. Unfortunately, she has to take care of my granfather, whose health is not up for such a trip and since she can't afford the trip, she resigned herself to the fact that she wasn't able to go. However, my two aunts (my dad's sisters) chipped in to surprise her with a ticket to Chicago! Apparently, she doesn't know yet...but it's going to be an early birthday present for her (her birthday is Oct. 11).
My cousin is the oldest grandson on my dad's side of the family and is the second grandchild to get married, after the second-oldest grandchild, who got married over two years ago. I'm the third oldest grandchild...I hope that at the wedding, I won't be hearing any "Sooooo...when's your turn?". It's like "Would you let me live my life, darn it!" Master's degree first! Besides, I'd like to experience living on my own for a while. My other cousin, who is a few months younger than me, is practically engaged to her joined-at-the-hip boyfriend from Spain, so hopefully the attention will be directed to her.
I work at the Children's Desk tonight 5-9...more to write about later!
