I wish I could update this LJ more often, but I've been really busy with school work and such...but I'm almost done! The worst is over! Just need to turn in two or three more assignments and get ready to go to Ithaca!
Anywayz, I had a very good weekend...NG came to visit! He arrived around 6:30 pm and a bit after 7, we went to KG and her husband HG's (whom I worked for at the EAL) house for a dinner party. They had invited a few other people that I know from my various classes and departments I've worked at. I did not expect to see them there, but it was a pleasant surprise. KG and HG made a LOT of delicious food! They just kept piling it on...there were spring rolls, katsu, karage, yakisoba, and of course, sushi! I was quite impressed with their kindness and hospitality. I was also surprised how much HG seems to loosen up outside of work.

Yesterday, was a GORGEOUS day! NG and I walked over to CMU to check out their annual spring fair. It wasn't all that great, but there were some interesting-looking booths designed by students. The one that stood out in my mind was the booth built to look like an old 8-bit Nintendo console. We were gonna have lunch at the fair but decided to go to some Asian food restaurant. The food wasn't all that good, but it hit the spot. Afterwards, we just wandered around for a bit. I showed NG where I work and then we laid out in the grassy area in front of Hillman, along with what seemed to be everybody else. Between 6 and 6:30, we met up with my classmates [livejournal.com profile] almariel, JR, and RH so we could all take the bus to da South Side (of the Monongahela River in Pittsburgh, that is) so we could spend Saturday evening at The Library! "The Library" is actually a library-themed restaurant that opened for business a few months ago. It made waves among us library science students and has been the subject of much conversation, so I figured I'd take the chance and invite people to go there the last weekend we were all in town before the end-of-semester break. When we got there, we were seated at a table covered with a map of the world and were given books with the menus pasted inside the front covers. The food was a bit expensive but everyone was happy with what they ordered. The atmosphere was quite nice...not as casual as I had thought it would be...but still I liked it. I had a really good time just chatting my classmates about all sorts of things that only we librarians could appreciate ;-) Afterwards, we got on the bus, which took NG and I all the way to my apartment building, which was VERY nice. I'm glad we decided to take the bus instead of driving my car. It would have been a PAIN trying to find a parking space!
Well, NG and I had gotten back to my place were chillin' out a fire alarm went off in the building. We scurried down the stairwell and gathered with the other tenants by the front entrance. Apparently, the fire alarm had gone off on the fourth floor...and someone claimed that she had seen smoke on the fourth floor. We had to wait for the *ahem* Bureau of Fire to arrive and check the situation out, which thankfully didn't take too long. Apparently, there was no fire..someone had just pulled the alarm on purpose. Once we were cleared to go back in, we all trudged back to our habitations. All I have to say is that THANK GOD this didn't happen during the cold spell...we would all have frozen solid!
Today NG and I had lunch at Panera and then we went to Giant Eagle so I could get some stuff...I don't really want to buy too many groceries at the moment since I will be leaving for two weeks in several days. I was sad to see NG leave, but I'm glad that I will be seeing him again soon!
