It's the Monday after the Steelers' loss to the Packers at the Superbowl and may I say, I had never seen the people at my job look so glum! When a coworker/colleague passes away (this has happened twice!), it's business as usual but when the Steelers' lose the Superbowl, it's a TRAGEDY. Mind you, this is a workplace that had no Holiday party last December but held a big pre-Superbowl party last Friday.
The halftime show was a void. A bad, bad void... )
Don't even get me STARTED on the ads... )
And of course...there was the game. The whole reason for the whole hoopla in the first place. It was a pretty good game right up to the end. As RH said, it's the one day of the year where it's socially acceptable to yell like a crazy person, which I did at points...but not nearly as much as I did during Superbowl 2008 (now THAT was a game...)

So even though I am not a big (American) football fan, I've almost always felt compelled to join in on Superbowl celebrations. They have been a bit of a guilty pleasure and an excuse to make/eat good food, drink good beer, hang out with friends, and be entertained by the ads and the halftime show. Perhaps it's the Steelers' loss that is affecting my thinking (even though it wasn't THAT big of a deal for me--in fact, I thought it funny that one of my friends, who is from Wisconsin, kept gloating afterwards), but the Superbowl spectacle was such a letdown this year that I'm not sure if I want to waste my time watching it again next year. I'm not very invested in football in the first place...I could probably think of a lot better things to do.
