Last night, I received an invitation for a party which has a theme of "Come As You Ain't". It's pretty self-explanatory: You basically come dressed completely the opposite of what your personality is. In other words, if you're a punk rocker, then you're supposed to wear really "preppy", conservative clothes...or if you're pro-Obama, you're supposed to wear a pro-McCain shirt or button, or whatever. In trying to come up with what I would wear and what opposite (doppelganger?) personality I would be trying to convey, it really got me to think about who I really am...because you have to really know who you are in order to figure out who you aren't...But in my case...well, I've often "decided" that I'm not "this" or "that"...but never spent as much time thinking about who I am...
Ironically enough, the two ideas I've come up with for how to dress for the party are total opposites. My first idea is to dress like a sorority girl (which I've always felt was "not me") and the other is to dress like a total hippie (which I'm also beginning to realize is not the kind of person I would want to be either). So what are the opposite of those two things? Does this make me, in reality, a middle-of-the-road stick in the mud?

So...I have two questions:
(If you know me well enough) What kind of person/personality do you see as being the complete opposite of mine? In other words: what would you see me wearing to this party?
And: If you were going to this party, how would you dress up?

That's an interesting experiment! It seems like it'd be a lot of fun to get out of your comfort zone like that...but at the same time, it seems a bit too stereotypical in a way. It's almost like you pick which "box" you fit into, and merely pick the exact opposite box. I guess the way that it goes. Anyway, if you didn't want to do the sorority girl or hippie look, may I suggest a goth girl look? ;)

As for me, it's a good question...maybe I'd break out the Slash outfit from Halloween again? ;)

I'd be inclined to agree with the goth/emo look, you are anything but the quiet, mopy, pessimistic type ;) Maybe bring a book of poems and occasionally ranting about how all the words in it are dying ;)
As for myself, I'd prolly wear the typical wifebeater and slick my hair back, maybe some (fake of course) bling ;)

I would say try dressing up as a hasid! Black dockers, white button-down shirt (extra points for it being untucked and fringes hanging out), black suit jacket, black hat, long locks of hair hanging in front of your ears, and a long fake beard.

As for me, I would probably shoot for valley girl.

You know...you do have a point with the goth girl look...I think I will definitely consider it...hopefully I can get tall black boots, chains, and a dog collar ;-)
*Picturing you as Slash* LOL!!
...wait, you actually dressed up as Slash for Halloween? What year was this? ;-)
