Get out and VOTE!!
Nov. 7th, 2006 03:20 pmBack in September, there was a student political group on campus that had a table where you could fill out a form to register to vote. I filled out the form, but never got a voter registration card. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to vote, but I felt that I should at least make the effort to try because sometimes, even if you didn't get a voter registration card, your name can still be on a list of registered voters for that precinct. So, last night, I looked up my designated polling place (according to my address) and earlier today, I walked to my polling place which isn't too far from where I live. Unfortunately, my name wasn't on the list but the good news was, that they let me vote by provisional ballot! So I was happy :-) I was able to do my part to get rid of Santorum (I've only been in PA a couple of months, but I already know he's gotta go!).
The funny thing about where I live is that the street I live on is a major avenue and kind of ghetto-ish but the neighborhood one street over behind my apartment building is really nice! So as I was walking back home after voting, I decided to walk by the street behind my apartment building, and I was simply AMAZED at the size of the houses. They're really beautiful and most are made of stone or brick and were built many years ago but they haven't lost their charm. Also, the street was so QUIET, in comparison to the noisiness of where I live. I was like being back in Salisbury again, only better ;-) I know I've said that I will probably stay in this apartment for quite some time, but if next year, I got an offer to share one of those houses for lower rent than I pay now, I would do it IN A SECOND.
In other news, NG is coming tonight and will be staying till the weekend. I can't wait! Thank goodness I don't have any major papers due anytime soon :-P
